Born in Madison, Wisconsin to Clifford and Myrtle Hamm (nee) Penn. Doris attended Madison West High School, graduating class of 1947. Doris worked for and retired from the City of Madison, Department of Parks and Rec. in 1985 Doris moved to Tucson, Arizona. Doris kept actively working with an Arizona adoption organization, as a realtor and the president of the nonprofit organization, “Friends of Marty Birdman”. Doris was also a caregiver to several of her friends. Doris was a lifetime avid baseball fan, enjoying any game played but was totally a Brooklyn and L.A. Dodgers fan.
Preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Alice and Judith; son, Mark and daughter, Gail.
Survived by daughter, Marjorie; son, Paul; sisters, Char Dohm, Ruthann Penn; ten grandchildren, Jessie and Paul Michael Habich, Monica Wallace, Eric and Trevor (Mariah) Habich, Bret and Nathan Piontek, Krystle Marks (Joe), Deanna Stingl (Mitch), CJ Bernard-Stokelin Chad (Melissa) and five great grandchildren, Taylor, Charlee, Lochlan, Dash, Mila and Ava.
Doris’ family wishes to thank the Catalina Hospice team of Heather, Lisa, Tabitha, Marla and Clarissa for their loving, compassionate care during Doris’ home hospice. Much love and thank you to Hannah, Joe, Roberta, Marilyn, Val, Charmayne and Tim for spending a great deal of time helping and caring for mom and grandma.
In the summer of 2025, Doris' ashes will be scattered at Penn Park in Madison, Wisconsin.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00 AM at 105 N. Norton, Tucson, Arizona 85719. A luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Marty Birdman organization.
