Andrew Brian Smith

Andrew Brian Smith, loving father and husband, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024. Andy was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to parents Kathryn Cortner and Harlo Smith. In 1978 the family relocated to Tucson, Arizona. In Tucson, Andy attended Secrist Middle School and Santa Rita High School, where he made lifelong friends. After High School, Andy attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Agriculture.

In 1995, Andy met the love of his life, Kristina Lancaster. Andy and Kris married on May 23, 2003, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where he was a devout member. Andy and Kris welcomed their daughter, Kaitlyn in 2004, and son Jesse, in 2006. Andy was a faithful family man above all else and was immensely proud of his children. 

Andy worked in Information Technology for Vantage West Credit Union for just shy of 25 years, before accepting a position at Jack Henry & Associates. He enjoyed traveling, spending time in Russia, Greece, Germany, and Italy. He looked forward to playing Dungeons & Dragons with his friends on Sunday afternoons and playing guitar in the Church Praise Band. Andy was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and was active in the Kairos Prison Ministry for over 15 years.

Andy will be fondly remembered for his kind heart, infectious laugh, and his quick wit. He was a dog lover, and always took the opportunity to make a good dad-joke. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle.

Andy is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Kristina Smith, children, Kaitlyn and Jesse Smith, his mother, Kathryn Smith, brothers, Larry (Donna) Smith, Michael Smith, sister, Kristine Morales, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Andy is preceded in death by his father, Harlo Smith, grandparents Smith and Cortner, and his Uncle Harold. 

Andy was a kindhearted man who touched many lives. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
